BYD announced the L4-level autonomous driving feature in its God’s Eye ADAS. The company also promises it will fully cover any losses caused by using ADAS in parking scenarios. “Our move reflects absolute confidence in God’s Eye ADAS,” BYD said in a press release.

The company will soon push an OTA update to God’s Eye B and C, which will contain enhanced parking scenarios and three-speed parking, according to a Weibo post by BYD.

Level 4 (L4) describes a level of autonomy where the car handles driving tasks independently without any driver intervention, provided the specific conditions are met.

BYD claims its L4-level parking system adheres to global standards, enabling the car to park itself without driver assistance in certain situations. If something goes wrong, BYD, not the driver, is responsible.

Shenzhen-based automaker takes full liability for safety and losses that God’s Eye-assisted driving software may cause during parking. It will cover all repair costs, third-party property damage, and personal injury compensation resulting from malfunctions or algorithm errors in the parking assist system, whenever the vehicle is found to be at fault in a legal proceeding.

When an accident occurs during parking, the driver can contact BYD service directly, without initiating an insurance claim. The company claims the most significant benefit to this is that it will not affect next year’s premiums, which would result in increased insurance costs.

BYD also announced it will soon carry the largest God’s Eye OTA in its history, which, aside from parking, will improve driving and safety.

BYD launched its God’s Eye ADAS (advanced driver-assistance system) in February 2025. I claimed to democratise autonomous driving as they offered it even on their cheapest vehicles, starting at 69,800 yuan (9,700 USD), which was the BYD Seagull at that time. On Jul 7, BYD said the number of cars equipped with God’s Eye surpassed 1 million.

“We are first in the world to propose a guarantee for autonomous parking,” BYD concluded in the announcement.
