Buick has officially announced the upcoming launch of the refreshed Buick Electra E5, an all-electric mid-to-large-sized SUV. The new model boasts 47 improvements across design, performance, intelligent interaction, and comfort features. Notably, it will be the first vehicle to feature the Ultium 2.0 multi-drive platform, promising enhanced capabilities and an extended range.

The new Electra E5 adopts Buick’s PURE Design language, first seen on the Electra-X Concept. The exterior showcases a sleek, closed grille design at the front, optimizing aerodynamics and enhancing recognition. It features a split headlamp design and a dark, textured lower grille for a sporty aesthetic. The side and rear profiles largely retain similarities to the current model, incorporating popular EV design elements such as hidden door handles and a continuous taillight. The rear is further accentuated by sharp lines, a continuous taillight, and a three-segment high-mounted brake light, with metallic chrome accents adding to its refined look.

The dimensions of the new Electra E5 are 4892mm in length, 1905mm in width, and 1684mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2954mm. It will offer 18-inch (245/60 R18 tires) or 19-inch (245/55 R19 tires) wheel options.

A key highlight of the refreshed Electra E5 is its integration of the Ultium 2.0 multi-drive platform. This platform supports a maximum voltage of nearly 900V and is paired with a 6C lithium iron phosphate (LFP) fast-charging battery, co-developed by SAIC General Motors and CATL. This advanced battery technology allows for a rapid 10-minute charge to provide over 350 kilometers (217 miles) of range. The new model is expected to offer a pure electric range exceeding 600 kilometers (373 miles).

The new Electra E5 offers a single motor with a maximum power of 180kW (241 HP). Previous versions of the Electra E5 offered 68 kWh or 80 kWh NMC ternary batteries, providing CLTC ranges of 545 km (339 miles) or 620 km (385 miles), respectively. Engine options included 180 kW (241 HP), 150 kW (201 HP), and 211 kW (283 HP), with both 4WD and FWD configurations.
