BMW has officially released images of the new China-produced BMW iX3 Long Wheelbase, confirming its global debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. This electric SUV, tailored for the Chinese market, is set for launch in the first half of 2026. CarNewsChina exclusively reported on the camouflaged vehicle last August.

The new iX3 Long Wheelbase largely maintains the exterior design of its overseas counterpart, with subtle refinements. Key visual elements include the distinctive “Digital Angel Wing” daytime running lights and a “3D Luminous Grille” that commands attention. The vehicle will be available in nine body colours: Mineral White, Arctic Grey, Marina Bay Blue, Space Silver, Blue Ridge Mountain, Carbon Black, Dune Grey, Flamenco Red, and Frozen Space Silver.

An enhancement for the Chinese market is the extended wheelbase, now stretching to 3005mm. For reference, the overseas model measures 4780mm in length, 1895mm in width, 1635mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2895mm.

At the rear, the vehicle retains the horizontal L-shaped taillights. Notably, the badging now features “Brilliance BMW” and “iX350L,” signifying its local production and specific variant. A new central rear camera has been integrated into the segmented roof spoiler, hinting at advanced driver-assistance capabilities. Indeed, the new iX3 Long Wheelbase will feature Momenta’s full-scene navigation-assisted driving function, designed for local travel scenarios across both highway and urban roads.

Inside, the new iX3 Long Wheelbase adopts BMW’s latest design philosophy, incorporating a panoramic integrated sunshade sunroof. BMW has partnered with Alibaba to develop a custom large language model (LLM) technology. This system will integrate DeepSeek’s AI large model capabilities and AI agents into the cockpit, alongside support for the HarmonyOS ecosystem and Huawei HiCar digital services.

Under the hood, the new iX3 Long Wheelbase is powered by BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive electric drive technology, built on an 800V architecture. It features a 108kWh battery, coupled with a front asynchronous motor and a rear excited synchronous motor. This potent setup delivers a maximum power output of 345kW (463 hp) and a peak torque of 645 Nm, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds.

In terms of range, the vehicle boasts a CLTC pure electric cruising range exceeding 900km, with an official energy consumption rate of 15.1kWh/100km. Fast charging capabilities allow for a 427km range top-up in 10 minutes.
