BEIJING (Reuters) -Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD broke ground on its Cambodia passenger vehicle factory on Monday, according to the Chinese embassy in Cambodia. The new plant in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 vehicles, covers an area of 120,000 square meters and is expected to begin operations by the end of this year, the special economic zone said in a statement on its WeChat account on Monday. BYD had received nearly 1,000 new energy vehicle orders in Cambodia in the first quarter, the statement said.

"They are nothing but lies," said Wang Yun, a 35-year-old teacher at a middle school in Tianjin, about many carmakers' marketing campaigns to promote smart driving vehicles.

With an area of more than 1,000 square meters, the new store is the first BYD flagship showroom in Peru.

China is simultaneously engaged in tariff disputes with the US while accelerating dialogue with European automotive representatives to resolve the EU's anti-subsidy investigation against Chinese electric vehicles.

Chinese EV giant BYD has launched a megawatt (MW)-class fast-charging platform, pushing EV charging speeds to rival gasoline refueling—a move set to further pressure traditional car markets.

BYD has a claimed range of up to 567 km on a single charge. It is offered in two variants.

The Nio and Onvo brands had combined insurance registrations of 7,970 units in China last week, up 29.17 percent from 6,170 units in the previous week.

Electric Vehicle Market China: Porsche late on Monday said U.S. import tariffs, in place since April at 25%, weighed on its business in April and May, and it warned that its adjusted outlook does not factor in the future effects of tariffs.
