China has completed testing of the country's first hydrogen-powered train. The model, built by government-owned railway manufacturer CRRC, offers speed and range comparable to existing hydrogen-powered trains on the market. Hydrogen-powered trains on the market currently offer a range of around 1,000 km on a top speed of 160 km per hour. CRRC, though, claims its train offers a better energy efficiency than rivals: the company's test data shows an average energy consumption of 5 kWh per km.
