China’s electric vehicle (EV) exports to the European Union (EU) experienced an unexpected rise in December, raising alarms about future Sino-European trade relations. This increase came despite recently imposed tariffs by the EU, highlighting the complexities of international trade dynamics. According to Chinese customs data, the number of EVs shipped to the EU in December reached 32,849 units, marking an 8.3% increase compared to the same month last year. This upswing is particularly noteworthy, as it countered two previous months of substantial declines resulting from the EU’s decision to escalate tariffs on Chinese EV imports by up to 45% starting
