CarNewsChina previously reported that the updated Hongguang Mini EV was revealed in February, featuring a redesigned exterior with rounded lighting elements and a revised body shape.

Exterior and dimensions

The model adopts a design described as “sweet square,” combining a boxy profile with rounded elements, such as circular LED headlights, mirrors, and decorative details. Three new exterior colours are offered, using an eight-layer paint process.

The vehicle measures 3268 mm in length, 1520 mm in width, and 1575 mm in height, with a 2190 mm wheelbase. Compared with the previous version, length and height have increased slightly, while the wheelbase remains unchanged. A 4.5-meter turning radius is specified.

Additional exterior features include a dual-tone body, clover-style wheels, and enlarged rear tailgate access.

Interior and cabin features

The interior features a dual-tone colour scheme with brown and white seating, along with a redesigned dashboard integrating flexible storage areas. A column-mounted gear selector replaces the previous layout, freeing space in the centre console.

A 10.1-inch central display features a new user interface and supports drop-down control menus. The system includes four preset modes: rest, camping, rain/snow, and pet mode.

Connectivity features include remote vehicle control via a mobile app, enabling scheduled start and air conditioning operation. The infotainment system is planned to support Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and CarLink via over-the-air updates. The vehicle also includes keyless entry and start functions.

The cabin provides 20 storage compartments, and the rear seats can be folded to expand trunk capacity to 838 litres.

Powertrain and charging

The vehicle is equipped with a 30 kW electric motor, consistent with the existing four-door version. The 0-50 km/h acceleration is rated at 4.56 seconds.

Two CLTC range options are available: 205 km and 301 km. Energy consumption is listed at 8.9 kWh/100 km. The battery is a lithium iron phosphate unit.

Charging options include DC fast charging, which can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in 35 minutes, along with two additional charging methods. The system includes battery heating for low-temperature operation.

Safety and chassis

The model uses a ring-shaped cage body structure with 60% high-strength steel and 1500 MPa material in key areas. Safety features include dual front airbags and an electronic stability control system.

The suspension setup consists of a front MacPherson independent system and a rear three-link non-independent arrangement, with disc brakes on both axles.

The Hongguang Mini EV series remained active in China’s small EV segment rankings despite shifts in the hatchback EV market in early 2026.
