Changan UK has officially launched its all-electric Deepal S05 in the United Kingdom. The compact C-segment SUV was launched in Europe last September, and exported through Changan’s Thailand factory.
“The Changan Deepal S05 is designed for people who want an electric SUV that fits effortlessly into everyday life,” said Nic Thomas, Managing Director of Changan UK.
The Deepal S05 launched in the UK is powered by a 68.8kWh LFP battery that delivers up to 303 miles (WLTP) in the rear-wheel drive configuration and 278 miles in the all-wheel drive variant.

Inside, drivers and passengers will find a cockpit featuring vegan leather heated and ventilated front seats, including a full-recline “zero gravity” passenger seat for enhanced comfort. The cabin comes equipped with a 15.4-inch rotating touchscreen, an augmented reality head-up display, a 14-speaker audio system, and wireless smartphone connectivity.

The Deepal S05 earned a five-star Euro NCAP rating. Standard across all models are 17 intelligent driver assistance systems that enable Level 2 autonomous driving through an array of cameras, radars, and ultrasonic sensors, including a 540-degree surround-view camera system.
The UK launch is part of Changan’s broader European strategy, with the brand now present in 16 European markets and plans for expansion into Italy, Spain, and Poland in the near future.
What sets the Deepal S05 apart is its global development. The vehicle was designed at Changan Design Centre Europe in Turin, Italy, and fine-tuned at the company’s R&D Centre in Birmingham, UK, ensuring it meets the specific demands of European roads and drivers.
For the British market, the Deepal S05 is manufactured at Changan’s Rayong Factory in Thailand, which was established in 2023 specifically to serve global right-hand drive markets. The facility sources approximately 60% of components locally.
The Changan S05 was first launched in China in October, 2024. The trim with 68.8kWh LFP battery was launched in April, 2025. It has a 610 km CLTC range. The battery supports the 3C fast charging function that allows charging from 30 to 80% in 15 minutes, and it has a 200 kW (268 hp) e-motor.
