Volkswagen reclaimed the top spot in China’s auto market for the first two months of 2026, surpassing EV giant BYD. According to the China Passenger Car Association, VW’s joint ventures held a 13.9% market share, while BYD fell to 7.1%. The shift comes as Beijing scales back EV subsidies and purchase tax exemptions expire.
