BYD will hold a technology launch event on March 5, expected to showcase megawatt flash charging 2.0, second-generation Blade Battery, DM 6.0 hybrid system, and God’s Eye 5.0 driver assistance, according to Autohome.
The leaked charger adopts a T-shaped design with a cyan exterior finish and dual suspended charging cables mounted on sliding rails. The technical specifications visible on the nameplate indicate a maximum voltage of 1,000 V, a maximum current of 1,500 A, and a peak output power of 1,500 kW. If the system supports dual-gun simultaneous charging, total station output could exceed 2,000 kW.
Megawatt charging 2.0
BYD plans to construct over 4,000 fast-charging stations in 2026, partnering with Xiaoju Charging and other platforms to build 15,000 stations across a three-tier network of flagship, satellite, and community locations. The second-generation system represents a 50 percent increase in power over the first-generation 1,000 kW chargers introduced in March 2025. Technical reports suggest the system delivers 1,360 kW of peak output, enabling “1 second 2 kilometres” charging speed, translating to approximately 400 km of range added in 5 minutes.
Second-generation Blade Battery expected
The second-generation Blade Battery is expected to achieve an energy density of 190-210 Wh/kg compared to the first-generation’s 140-150 Wh/kg. A short-blade format delivers 160 Wh/kg, supporting 16C discharge and 8C charging, while a long-blade format reaches 210 Wh/kg, with 8C discharge and 3C charging capability. BYD targets a 15 percent cost reduction for the long-blade version. The Blade 2.0 is engineered for over 3,000 charging cycles, translating to approximately 1.2 million kilometres total vehicle lifespan. Premium models equipped with Blade 2.0 are expected to achieve up to 1,000 km CLTC range.
DM 6.0 and God’s Eye 5.0
Industry reports suggest BYD will unveil a fifth-generation DM-i plug-in hybrid system achieving 2.9L/100km fuel consumption and nearly 2,000 km combined range with full fuel and full charge, though BYD has not officially confirmed specifications. God’s Eye 5.0 is expected to deploy reinforcement learning and closed-loop end-to-end control. As of late 2025, over 2.3 million vehicles were equipped with God’s Eye systems, generating more than 160 million kilometres of driving data daily.
BYD Song Ultra: production & flash charging
Separately, BYD Song Ultra production lines are reportedly operating at full capacity ahead of a March market launch. Positioned in the high-volume 160,000–180,000 yuan (23,390–26,320 USD) segment, the model features a completely redesigned chassis on BYD’s new e-platform with integrated body structure and a 2,840 mm wheelbase, 20 mm longer than the seven-seat Tang.
Additionally, social media leaks have surfaced showing a BYD test vehicle with a dedicated “flash charging” emblem, reinforcing the brand’s focus on ultra-fast charging integration across upcoming models.

Strategic context
The March 5 event addresses BYD’s November 2025-January 2026 sales contraction following 18 consecutive months of growth. In November 2025, NEV sales reached 480,186 units, a 5.25 percent year-on-year decline. Chairman Wang Chuanfu acknowledged at a December shareholder meeting that recent weakness stemmed from BYD’s technological edge eroding versus rivals. Deutsche Bank forecasts BYD’s sales will rebound 6 per cent year-on-year to 4.9 million units in 2026, identifying the second-generation Blade Battery and megawatt charging as the primary drivers.
