BYD offers first look at the Linghui e9 EV
The e9 is the first model under BYD’s new sub-brand Linghui, launched earlier this month. BYD said the new sub-brand is aimed at “leading high-value mobility” as an affordable alternative.
While BYD is best known for its low-cost electric vehicles, Linghui is positioned in the commercial space for ride-hailing, fleets, taxis, and corporate or government official use.
Linghui is designed to fill the gap between higher-end luxury vehicles and mass-market models that often lack the software, tech, features, and performance that buyers are increasingly looking for.
BYD is expected to integrate its latest tech stack, including DiLink intelligent connectivity system and full-stack DiSus intelligent body control.
The sub-brand’s first vehicle, the Linghui e9, is based on the BYD Han and measures 4,995 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. It was one of four vehicles revealed by China’s MIIT last month, alongside the Linghui e5, e7, and M9.

All models will be fully electric, except for the M9, which will be a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). The e5 will be based on the Qin Plus EV, the e7 on the Sealion 06 EV, and the M9 on BYD’s Xia MPV.
According to the filing, the Linghui e9 is powered by a single front electric motor with 135 kW (181 hp) or 150 kW (201 hp).

It will be available with two battery packs, 60.5 kWh and 64.315 kWh, providing CLTC cruising ranges of 535 km (332 miles) and 605 km (375 miles), respectively.
Following Denza, Yangwang, and FangChengBao, Linghui is BYD’s fourth sub-brand as it expands into new segments.
After BYD’s sub-brand released the first official images, more details, including prices, are expected soon. To give you an idea, last May, BYD launched the e7 sedan, starting at 103,800 yuan ($14,500).
