DLL, a Eindhoven-based financier, has announced its role as a strategic partner of BYD, initially launching operations in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Ireland, Poland, and the United Kingdom. The financing offers are set to expand across the entire European region in the future.
The collaboration is not entirely new: DLL began financing BYD buses and trucks in 2025. However, the partnership is now being elevated to a new level, with an expanded range of financing solutions, including operating leasing, finance leasing, and loans. Mike Kinka, President of DLL’s Construction, Transport and Industry business unit, welcomed the move: “By becoming BYD’s preferred financier for trucks, buses and forklifts, we are helping to accelerate the adoption of sustainable transport solutions across Europe.”
In Europe, BYD has so far been primarily active in the bus sector. The manufacturer also operates a local production facility in Hungary. However, BYD is still in the early stages of its electric truck rollout in Europe. While the ETM6, a light-duty battery-electric truck, and the ETH8, a medium-duty battery-electric truck, are now available as imports, large-scale deployment has yet to begin. The partnership with DLL is expected to play a key role in laying the groundwork for this expansion.
“Battery-electric buses and trucks are a cornerstone of BYD’s unique and multifaceted efforts to advance electromobility in Europe,” emphasised Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD. “The partnership with DLL will provide our customers with flexible financing options, making it easier and more affordable for them to transition to low-emission fleets. This collaboration underscores our long-term commitment to supporting Europe’s green transformation, particularly in public transport and the commercial vehicle sector.”
The ETM6 is a compact 7.5-tonne truck with a length of 5.95 metres, a width of 2.10 metres, and a height of 2.94 metres. Depending on the configuration, its payload capacity is up to 4 tonnes. The battery has a capacity of 126 kWh, and the range is approximately 200 kilometres. Just recently, Dachser announced the integration of two units of the Chinese brand in Spain for the first time.
The ETH8, on the other hand, is a medium-duty battery-electric tractor unit with a 4×2 axle configuration and a gross vehicle weight of up to 19 tonnes, according to the website. The model is available in two lengths (7.85 or 10.19 metres). Its payload capacity is nearly 11 tonnes, with a range of up to 250 kilometres. The electric motor delivers up to 180 kW, while the onboard LFP battery has a capacity of 255 kWh.
BYD does not currently offer a full-sized 40-tonne truck.
