The BYD Song Ultra EV mid-size crossover was officially teased in China ahead of launch. Previously, this model was exposed by the Chinese regulator during the domestic homologation process. It boasts an electric motor for 270 kW (362 hp).

The BYD Song was initially a single model under the BYD brand. However, it turned into a small family of crossovers. It currently comprises the Song Pro DM-i, the Song L EV, and the Song L DM-i. The Song Plus SUV, which sells globally as Sealion 6 and Seal U, has recently left the Chinese market. However, BYD will soon launch the latest addition to this series. It is the Song Ultra EV crossover.

On February 4, BYD shared the official teaser image of the BYD Song Ultra EV crossover. The automaker shared that it is the first B-class all-electric car under the Dynasty series (that also includes Han, Tang, Yuan, and Xia lines). This teaser clearly hints that the Song Ultra EV will shortly enter China.

The Song Ultra EV crossover stands close to the Song L DM-i plug-in hybrid crossover in terms of exterior styling and dimensions. The two cars share similar headlights, a rear bumper, and a taillight unit. However, the Song Ultra EV adopts BYD’s latest Loong Face styling with a sporty front bumper. This EV also offers flush door handles and an optional LiDAR sensor on the roof.

The BYD Song Ultra EV boasts dimensions of 4850/1910/1670 mm with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. For clarity, it is 70 mm longer than the mentioned Song L DM-i and 115 mm longer than the Song Pro DM-i. The Song Ultra comes with two powertrain variants. Its curb weight lies between 1,990 and 2,050 kg.

The entry-level BYD Song Ultra EV adopts an electric motor for 239 kW (320 hp). The more powerful variant boasts an e-motor for 270 kW (362 hp) and a top speed of 210 km/h. Both variants adopt BYD’s LFP Blade battery with an unknown capacity. More about the Song Ultra EV as we get it.
