On December 19, GAC officially opened its Hyptec A800 flagship EREV sedan for pre-order, collaborated with Huawei for level 3 (L3) highway autonomous driving. The new car features the world’s longest 6,536 mm interior ambient lighting and is equipped with Huawei’s latest technologies including the Qiankun ADS 4.0 Ultra version and HarmonySpace 5 intelligent cockpit system.

The Hyptec A800 has a drag coefficient of 0.275 Cd.

Overall, the Hyptec A800’s appearance adopts the look of mainstream Chinese new energy vehicles with a closed front face, through-type headlight and taillight strips, roof-mounted lidar, and hidden door handles. Its drag coefficient is 0.275 Cd and body dimensions are 5130/1966/1500 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 3020 mm.

It is worth pointing out that GAC claimed the car’s 6,068 mm headlight strip is the world’s longest on a passenger vehicle that extends from the front to the side. At the same time, the Hyptec A800 has the world’s first three-sided flip-up headlights that indicates when the vehicle is under autonomous driving, normal driving, or parked mode. Huawei’s million-pixel intelligent projection headlights that support nine different lighting patterns are also present.

34 sensors throughout the vehicle to support the onboard Huawei Qiankun ADS 4.0 Ultra version for L3 highway autonomous driving.

Earlier, the Hyptec A800 also launched L3 highways autonomous driving road testing, with test speeds up to 120 km/h, making it the first vehicle in China to receive approval for L3 high-speed testing at this speed. The entire vehicle is equipped with a total of 34 sensors, including 4D millimeter-wave radar, high-definition cameras, and solid-state lidar.

The range-extender powertrain system consists of a 1.5T engine with a maximum power 118 kW (158 hp) as the range-extender, combined with a 35.027 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, providing a WLTC pure electric range of 178 km. At this time, GAC has not yet revealed the detailed electric motor specifications and the comprehensive range info.

Coming to the cockpit, the T-shaped layout is decorated with a 12.3-inch rectangular LCD instrument panel, a 15.6-inch central control screen, and a minimalistic center console that has two cupholders and wireless charging pads.

The infotainment system uses Huawei’s HarmonySpace 5, complemented by active noise cancellation technology, a 27-inch W-HUD, and the world’s longest 6,536 mm interior ambient lighting.

Six exterior paints are available to choose from: Crystal Purple, Arctic White, Matte Moonlight Gray, Moonlight Gray, Obsidian Black, and Electric Silver.
