Nio announced today that it has delivered the 30,000th unit of its all-new ES8, achieving this milestone in 89 days since the model’s launch on September 20. This sets a new record as the fastest delivery pace for any premium electric vehicle priced above 400,000 yuan (56,000 USD) in China.

The company reported that the pace of deliveries has accelerated significantly in recent weeks. After reaching the 20,000-unit mark on November 29, Nio delivered an additional 10,000 vehicles in 19 days.

The all-new ES8 is available in three variants with prices ranging from 406,800 to 446,800 yuan (57,000-63,000 USD) for the full purchase option. Customers can also opt for Nio’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) subscription model, which reduces the initial purchase price to between 298,800 and 338,800 yuan (42,000-48,000 USD).

Despite the delivery success, Nio faces supply chain challenges. On December 17, the company published a notice on its official community platform regarding changes to the ES8’s rear entertainment system due to chip shortages.

According to the announcement, vehicles manufactured from December 22, 2025, will feature a modified rear entertainment system with slightly reduced functionality. Nio emphasised that most features would remain unaffected, but highlighted two specific changes:

  1. The system will no longer support local video playback via USB drives (though lossless music playback via USB and wireless screen projection capabilities will remain intact).
  2. The USB-C port in the armrest will no longer support output to external displays (though data input and wired screen projection up to 1080p resolution will continue to work).

To address potential customer disappointment, Nio has implemented a compensation package. Customers who ordered their ES8 before December 31, 2025, and received vehicles with the modified entertainment system will be awarded 15,000 Nio points (equivalent to 1,500 yuan or 210 USD) within three days of vehicle delivery.

Additionally, Nio promises that once chip supply improves, affected customers can upgrade to the original technical solution for 12,000 NIO points (1,200 yuan, or 170 USD).
