The 2025 Auto Guangzhou witnessed the official debut of the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, a limited-edition hypercar from BYD. This ultimate track machine, limited to 30 units, showcases the pinnacle of BYD’s automotive technology, having already shattered records with a top speed of 496.22 km/h and a blistering Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 6 minutes, 59.157 seconds.
The Yangwang U9 Xtreme boasts an aerodynamic design. Its front hood features a dual-through design, complemented by an oversized carbon fibre front spoiler with downward-curving endplates. This setup increases front-end downforce, enhancing vehicle stability at extreme speeds.
Along the sides, the new car presents front fender flares and a waistline that extends to the rear. Standard equipment includes 20-inch twin five-spoke wheels, shod with high-performance semi-slick GitiSport e·GTR2 PRO tyres, co-developed with Giti. These tyres, sized 325/35 ZR20 (112Y), are engineered to withstand speeds up to 500 km/h. Furthermore, the U9 Xtreme is equipped with titanium alloy brake callipers and an optimised carbon-ceramic braking system, featuring an increased surface area for improved heat dissipation.

As the ultimate iteration of the U9 series, the Xtreme model is fully equipped with a comprehensive aerodynamic package. The rear window section incorporates a multi-layered, scale-like structure, while a large carbon fibre swan-neck spoiler. The rear bumper integrates a substantial double-layer diffuser device.

Underpinning the Yangwang U9 Xtreme is BYD’s e⁴ intelligent all-wheel-drive system combined with DiSus-X intelligent active body control technology. The four-wheel distributed drive motors enable precise wheel-end torque vectoring. The DiSus-X system features an external dual-valve structure, with separate valves controlling the upward and downward movements of the suspension, allowing for rapid and independent vertical adjustments of all four wheels.

Powering this hypercar is an all-domain 1200V ultra-high-voltage platform, featuring a four-motor system that delivers a staggering total output of 2220 kilowatts (2,977 hp). This translates to a power-to-weight ratio of 1217 horsepower per ton. The U9 Xtreme also incorporates a new track-grade Blade Battery, which, through optimised cells, reduced internal resistance, and a novel dual-layer cooling structure, achieves a discharge rate of 30C.
