BYD 50,000 cars milestone
BYD shared on November 16 that its cumulative sales volume in the UK reached 50,000 vehicles. It took the world’s largest EV maker 977 days to achieve this milestone. It is worth noting that BYD’s sales seemingly increased in 2025. From January to October this year, BYD sold 39,103 units in around 100 retail stores. It is 78.2% of the company’s total sales volume for the entire period of its presence on the UK market. In October 2025, the BBC reported that BYD’s September sales surged by 880%.

BYD’s current bestseller in the UK is the Seal U DM-i plug-in hybrid SUV. It starts at 33,315 GBP (43,840 USD). The Seal U boasts dimensions of 4775/1890/1670 mm. Its powertrain comprises a 1.5-liter petrol engine and an electric motor for 218 hp. The Seal U DM-i achieved over 10,000 sales in 10 months and became the UK’s bestselling PHEV.
Next year, BYD plans to launch the Denza B5 off-road SUV in the UK market. This model sells domestically as the Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5. The Denza B5 will try to compete with legacy UK-made off-roaders from Land Rover. In 2027, BYD will introduce the Yangwang luxury brand to the United Kingdom. Its models will compete with Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
