Stella Li, executive vice-president of Chinese electric-vehicle giant BYD, visited Morocco as a guest of the Association pour le Progrès des Dirigeants (APD), in partnership with BYD’s local exclusive distributor Auto Nejma. Speaking at an event, held last week and dedicated to mobility and energy, she outlined BYD’s global strategy and underscored Morocco’s strategic role in the company’s international expansion.
Li highlighted the pillars behind BYD’s growth: balancing electrification with intelligent technologies, maintaining full vertical integration «from raw materials to finished vehicles», and relying on a powerful innovation ecosystem supported by more than 120,000 engineers and over 65,000 patents.
She also presented the Yangwang U9, certified as the world’s fastest electric car at 496 km/h, and announced that BYD’s premium brand Denza will arrive in Morocco in 2026, offering models capable of reaching up to 1,000 km of range with only five minutes of charging.
APD director-general Farida Jirari noted that the visit reflects Morocco’s ability to position itself as a strategic hub for energy transition and sustainable mobility. BYD entered the Moroccan market in July 2023 through Auto Nejma, further reinforcing the Kingdom’s position in the global electric-mobility landscape.
