BYD, a global leader in electric mobility, introduced its new ATTO 8 plug-in hybrid SUV in Mexico City, its first model equipped with the fifth-generation Dual Mode Powerful (DM-p) system. The launch reinforces BYD’s expansion strategy in Mexico as part of its effort to promote electric and hybrid mobility across Latin America.
“The ATTO 8 is a demonstration of BYD’s technological strength. It symbolizes our mission to offer innovation, performance, and efficiency without compromise,” says Jorge Vallejo, General Director, BYD Mexico.
The ATTO 8 features a 1.5T high-efficiency engine combined with two electric motors, delivering 480 horsepower and all-wheel drive. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds, offering an electric-only range of 152km and a total combined range of 1,030km, positioning it among the top-performing SUVs in its category.
The model includes BYD’s latest safety and comfort technologies. It also offers massaging, ventilated, and heated seats for four passengers and space for seven, alongside a panoramic 2.9m sunroof and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). The ATTO 8 is available at authorized dealerships nationwide. According to Vallejo, Mexico is a key market for BYD’s global growth strategy, both in consumer vehicles and in the broader ecosystem of sustainable energy solutions.
