BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has unveiled its latest platform for electric buses, leveraging extensive technologies from its passenger vehicles.
The Chinese new energy-vehicle (NEV) maker unveiled its e-Bus Platform 3.0 at an event last night. Named similarly to its electric passenger vehicle platform e-Platform 3.0, this marks the third major iteration of its electric bus platform.
Designed specifically for pure-electric buses, the platform incorporates multiple new technologies including the DiSus-A body control system and a high-speed flat tire stability system.
BYD rolled out its new C11 bus model at the event, the first electric bus built on the e-Bus Platform 3.0.
The new platform employs CTC (Cell-to-Chassis) technology. BYD’s blade batteries, based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, are primarily positioned within the vehicle chassis to enhance body strength and maximize luggage compartment space.
Vehicles built on the platform can optionally feature active suspension for a more comfortable ride experience.
BYD has integrated Driver Disability Assistance System 2.0 into this new platform. Should the driver experience a sudden health emergency, passengers can activate the one-touch emergency stop button on the dashboard to initiate an automatic, safe vehicle halt.
Its high-speed tire blowout stability system boasts millisecond-level response times, maintaining vehicle stability during blowouts at speeds up to 100 km/h, according to the company.
The e-Bus Platform 3.0 employs a 1,000-volt high-voltage architecture across the entire system, which BYD said is a global first in the bus sector.
The new C11 bus offers five battery capacity options: 184 kWh, 257 kWh, 311 kWh, 425 kWh, and 593 kWh, delivering ranges between 220 and 730 kilometers.

The bus measures 11 meters in length and boasts a range exceeding 400 kilometers under full load with air conditioning running.
BYD is the world’s largest NEV maker and a major player in the electric commercial vehicle sector.
Since initiating R&D for new energy commercial vehicles in 2008, the company has invested over RMB 14 billion ($2 billion) over 17 years and now employs more than 7,000 R&D personnel.
From January to August, the company sold 38,074 commercial NEVs, marking a 294.51 percent year-on-year increase, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
