The BYD Sealion 06 SUV sold 4,801 units in its first week of sales, ranking first in weekly sales of A-class SUVs in China, said a senior executive.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Sealion 06 SUV (sport utility vehicle) sold 4,801 units in its first week after launch, Zhang Zhuo, head of sales for the company’s Ocean lineup, said on Weibo yesterday.
This makes the model the top-selling A-class SUV in China by weekly sales, Zhang said. He did not provide further details, but it appears to refer to insurance registrations for the week of July 28 to August 3.
In the highly competitive SUV market, it is no small feat for the newly launched Sealion 06 to achieve such results, he said.
BYD officially launched the Sealion 06 on July 24, offering a hybrid Sealion 06 DM-i and a pure electric Sealion 06 EV.
The Sealion 06 DM-i comes in three variants, with starting prices of RMB 139,800 ($19,460), RMB 146,800, and RMB 156,800.
The Sealion 06 EV also comes in three variants, with starting prices of RMB 143,800, RMB 153,800, and RMB 163,800.
