BYD passenger vehicle sales fell to 341,030 units in July, down 9.7% from June, representing the first month-on-month decline in six months. Sales remained nearly the same as in the same month last year, with 0.1% growth.
The flat July sales were caused by declining plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sales, which fell for the fourth month in a row, and decrease nearly doubled compared with June to a 22.6% year-over-year.
BYD sold 163,143 PHEVs, down 4.5% from June and down 22.6% from July 2024. The PHEV year-over-year decline is accelerating as in April it was only 0.4%, in May 6.3% and in June 12.5%.
Shenzhen-based automaker sold 177,887 BEVs, down 14% from June but up 36.8% from the same month last year. It is the first month-on-month decline in the last five months since February.
The company exported 80,737 vehicles, down 10.3% from June but up 169% from the same month last year. It is the first month-on-month decline in eight months since November 2024.

The main brand sold 315,136 BYD-badged cars, down 16.5% from June but 5.4% up from the same month last year.
