BYD Unveils New Electric Intercity eBus B13.b at UITP Summit

BYD has introduced its latest electric intercity bus, the BYD eBus B13.b, at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Hamburg. This marks its European debut and expands BYD’s offering in the interurban segment of zero-emission transport.

The BYD eBus B13.b is built on the manufacturer’s next-generation eBus platform, featuring the integrated Blade Battery Chassis. This Cell-to-Chassis technology incorporates BYD’s proprietary Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Blade Battery directly into the structure of the vehicle. According to BYD, this configuration contributes to structural rigidity while also allowing for a low-floor layout, which can support accessibility and passenger flow.

The B13.b can be equipped with a battery capacity of up to 560 kWh. BYD states that the bus is capable of achieving a range of over 700 kilometres on a single charge, depending on operational conditions. The vehicle has a maximum passenger capacity of 78 and is designed for longer-distance, intercity travel.

The vehicle’s power is delivered via two wheel hub motors with hairpin winding, supported by BYD’s Silicon Carbide-based 6-in-1 controller. This powertrain configuration is designed to support energy efficiency and smooth operation. The B13.b also features an Active Suspension Control System to support ride quality and vehicle stability.

The B13.b is BYD’s second electric bus to use the Blade Battery Chassis platform following the BYD eBus B12, which was unveiled at Busworld Europe 2023.
