Mazda has introduced the EZ-6 Sports Edition in China through its joint venture with Changan. Developed with input from Mazda’s teams in Japan, China, and Europe, the model combines distinctive styling with two electrified powertrain options. It measures 4921 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, and 1485 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2895 mm.

The EZ-6 adopts a familiar Mazda grille and split-structure headlights, with the main lamps placed beneath the daytime running lights. The lighting system, referred to as “Wings of Light,” includes an optional illuminated Mazda emblem. The Sports Edition features black exterior trim and red brake calliper covers, differentiating it from other variants.

Inside, the cabin has black Alcantara seat upholstery and red-black contrast stitching. Additional dark trim elements appear on the centre console and air vents. The overall design focuses on subtle visual differentiation rather than structural changes.

The model is available in two configurations. The extended-range version (EREV) uses a 1.5L engine with a 160 kW rear electric motor. It offers a total CLTC-rated range of 1,301 km when the battery and fuel tank are fully charged, with a tested fuel consumption of approximately 3.6L per 100 km. The battery electric variant (BEV) uses a 190 kW motor and offers CLTC ranges of either 480 km or 600 km, depending on the battery size. Fast charging enables the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in around 15 minutes under appropriate conditions.

Standard interior features include a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, and a 14-speaker Sony audio system. The cabin also offers 64-color ambient lighting and front seats with extended recline functionality. The EZ-6 has nine airbags, including a far-side airbag, and complies with European crash safety regulations.

It is built on Changan’s EPA architecture, which supports multiple electrified drivetrains. In the rest of the world, the Mazda EZ-6 will be known as the Mazda 6e. The price of the Mazda EZ-6 Sports Edition is not yet known. We keep a close eye as more details surface.

Changan Mazda has recently signed an agreement with CATL to develop future vehicles using CATL’s CIIC (Cell to Chassis) platform. This structure enables a modular approach by separating upper and lower body sections, aiming to improve development efficiency and flexibility for upcoming electric models.
