BYD, the world’s biggest new energy vehicle manufacturer, officially unveiled its Seal 08 mid-to-large-sized coupe yesterday, on the Blade Battery 2.0 event. Positioned as a flagship model, the Seal 08 integrates BYD’s latest advancements, including megawatt flash charging technology, the second-generation Blade Battery, rear-wheel steering, and the DiSus-A intelligent body control system.

The Seal 08 continues the design language of BYD’s Ocean-S concept car, featuring a sleek and dynamic front fascia. It boasts a closed-off grille, complemented by slender headlights with a wave-like pattern at their base. The air ducts on either side of the front bumper incorporate starlight ambient lighting. A LiDAR unit is mounted on the roof. The rear design showcases a fastback silhouette, with taillights and flowing wave lines that embody an “ocean aesthetic.”

In terms of dimensions, the Seal 08 measures 5150mm in length, 1999mm in width, and 1505mm in height. It features a wheelbase of 3030mm.

Built on an 800V high-voltage platform, the Seal 08 is equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery. This setup is expected to deliver a pure electric range exceeding 1000km. The vehicle also incorporates flash charging technology, allowing it to replenish 400km of range in 5 minutes. For the all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, the maximum power output is projected to surpass 480kW (644 hp), enabling a rapid 0-100km/h acceleration time of under 5 seconds.

Beyond its power and range, the Seal 08 will feature chassis technologies such as rear-wheel steering for enhanced maneuverability and the DiSus-A intelligent body control system. For intelligent driving, the Seal 08 may feature BYD’s God’s Eye B (DiPilot 300) intelligent driving system.

The company announced that the new vehicle is slated for market launch in the second quarter of this year.

In December 2025, BYD officially announced its “Ocean 8 Series Dual Flagship” models: the Seal 08 sedan and the Sealion 08 SUV. It is reported that both new models are expected to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2026. Now that the Seal 08 sedan has made its debut, it’s expected that the Sealion 08 will also be unveiled shortly.
