Huawei announced that its updated Maextro S800 luxury sedan and Aito M9 flagship SUV will be the first to be equipped with the world’s highest line-count mass-produced lidar, focusing on “ultra-high definition, ultra-precision, and ultra-long range.” Both models are also expected to be equipped with Huawei’s upcoming Qiankun ADS 5.0 (advanced driving system).

According to a Weibo blogger @FutureLearningNotes, this lidar’s model is D5 Max. The detail specifications will be revealed at the HIMA Technology Renewal Launch Conference on March 4th in China.

Generally, a higher-line lidar with more channels provides higher point density, therefore a more detailed 3D representations of the environment for applications such as autonomous driving.

As early as the end of January 2026, there were reports that HIMA will launch a 500-line lidar.
