Nio‘s upcoming flagship electric SUV, the ES9, has been spotted in China’s regulatory filings. According to the filing, the vehicle will feature a 102kWh battery pack with CLTC pure electric range options of 580km, 600km, and 620km.
The ES9 represents Nio’s latest entry in the premium electric SUV segment, featuring dimensions of 5365mm length, 2029mm width, and 1870mm height, with a wheelbase of 3250mm. These measurements position it as China’s largest electric SUV, even surpassing the size of the ultra-luxury Rolls-Royce Cullinan (5341mm × 2000mm × 1837mm).
Technical highlights of the ES9 include three LiDAR sensors, Nio’s AQUILA sensing system, and an adaptive chassis system capable of automatic height adjustment. The vehicle adopts Nio’s latest family design language, featuring a “Sharknose” front fascia, a full-width taillight, and options for two-tone body colors and large wheel designs up to 23 inches in diameter.

On the powertrain front, the ES9 will be equipped with dual motors manufactured by Nio Power Technology (Hefei) Co., Ltd.’s Xinqiao branch. The front motor produces 180kW (241hp) while the rear motor delivers 340kW (456hp), combining for a total output of 520kW (697hp). The vehicle’s maximum speed is rated at 220km/h.

In the fourth quarter of last year, Nio finally achieved profitability 11 years after its founding, driven by the robust sales of its flagship model, the ES8. At the time, the ES8 was China’s largest electric SUV, and the upcoming ES9 is even larger. Currently, Nio’s sales are heavily reliant on the ES8. It remains to be seen whether the introduction of the ES9 can provide Nio with another high-margin luxury vehicle.
In 2026, Nio is set to introduce a completely new model, the Onvo L80, alongside the ES9. Beyond these two, other new models slated for 2026 will be refreshed versions of existing vehicles, including an updated ES7, a LiDAR-equipped version of the Onvo L90, and a high-power variant of the Firefly.
