GAC Aion is set to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the Aion N60 battery swap version, details of which have recently surfaced in the latest Ministry of Industry and Information Technology catalogue. Positioned as a compact pure electric SUV, the new model emphasises a five-seater configuration and will feature a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.
The Aion N60’s fascia features a distinctive black integrated trim strip that incorporates dual-strip LED daytime running lights, rectangular headlights, and an illuminated logo. Ventilation openings are placed on the lower bumper and around the fog lamp areas. From the side, the vehicle sports a steeply raked A-pillar and semi-hidden door handles.
The rear design maintains the taillights, mirroring the style of the front headlights. The lower bumper also includes ventilation outlets on both sides and a silver skid plate, adding to its crossover characteristics. Consumers will have a choice between 17-inch and 18-inch wheel options.

In terms of size, the Aion N60 measures 4615mm in length, 1860mm (or 1883mm) in width, and 1673mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2775mm.

Under the hood, the SUV is powered by a drive motor delivering a maximum output of 165 kW (221 hp). While the official battery capacity has not yet been disclosed, it is confirmed to utilise a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack.

Following the Aion UT Super, GAC Aion has introduced another battery-swapping model. It is highly probable that this new model, like the Aion UT Super, will utilize CATL’s Choco-SEB battery swap network.
This month, CATL partnered with Changan to launch a vehicle featuring sodium-ion batteries. This follows CATL’s statement last year that its sodium-ion batteries would initially be deployed in battery swap networks. Furthermore, last month, rumors circulated that the Aion UT Super would adopt sodium-ion batteries.
Considering the Aion UT Super is a battery-swapping vehicle, its potential use of sodium-ion batteries is quite plausible. It is conceivable that this N60 model might also incorporate sodium-ion batteries via the battery swap network.
