Changan’s first batch of 500 vehicles from its Rayong plant in Thailand is being exported to Europe, including the Deepal S05 compact SUVs.

The Rayong factory is Changan’s first overseas new energy vehicle production base. Construction started in November 2023 with a total investment of approximately 1.9 billion yuan (270.3 million USD). Production commenced in May this year with an initial annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles, and the first vehicle that rolled off the assembly line was Changan’s 28.59 millionth vehicle, which was also a Deepal S05.
In the future, Changan plans to double the production capacity, expanding the production volume to 200,000 vehicles per year.

The Deepal S05 is Deepal’s fifth model, first launched in October 2024, available in four BEV and two EREV trims. The BEV was priced from 119,900 to 145,900 yuan (17,100 to 20,800 USD), and the EREV version was priced from 139,900 to 149,900 yuan (19,900 to 21,300 USD). Its dimensions are 4620/1900/1600 mm, with a wheelbase of 2880 mm and a drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd.
Then, at the Munich Auto Show in September this year, Changan announced Deepal S05’s price for the European market, offering three trims with a price range of 38,990 to 44,990 euros (326,000 to 376,000 yuan or 45,900 to 53,000 USD).
The European version of the BEV trims are available in single-motor and dual-motor versions, using a 68.82 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack with WLTP cruising ranges of 485 km and 445 km, respectively.
Furthermore, the single-motor has a maximum power of 200 kW (268 hp) and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds. The dual-motor has a combined system power of 320 kW (429 hp) and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 5.5 seconds.
The entire series comes standard with fast-charging, in which it takes 15 minutes to recharge the battery from 30% to 80%.

Inside, the cockpit features a 15.4-inch 2.5K central control screen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. The vehicle operating system is supported by the Deepal OS 3.1, which can display real-time information such as time, weather, and vehicle status.
