The BYD Han L DM plug-in hybrid sedan got an electric range boost after the fourth software update over the air (OTA). It also boasts the DiPilot 5.0 assisted driving system, 29 new features, and 6 optimizations.
On February 11, BYD released the fourth OTA update for the BYD Han L. The plug-in hybrid DM variant of this sedan got a new function called “Long Range.” By pushing this button, the BYD Han L DM FWD variant will have an additional 25 km of pure electric range under CLTC conditions, bringing the EV range to 225 km.
The all-wheel drive variant of the Han L DM with two electric motors for 400 kW (536 hp) gets a 15-km boost of electric range. As a result, the car can run up to 195 km under CLTC conditions with a 1.5-liter ICE turned off. It is worth pointing out that the BYD Han L DM has a 29.46 kWh LFP battery.
The fourth OTA update adds the DiPilot 5.0 assisted driving system with an end-to-end large model based on reinforcement learning. It supports switching parking direction in parallel parking scenarios. Moreover, the BYD Han L is able to perform an emergency parking function if the driver hasn’t held the steering wheel for a long time. The vehicle will pull over and stop.
Other features of the Han L DM include interconnection with Midea home appliances, HiCar-based Huawei phones with Harmony OS 6.0 operating system, and Samsung & Oppo phones. Other functions are minor, including a head-up display, memory, in-car games, new lock sound effects, etc.

The BYD Han L is a sleek sedan finished in the brand’s latest Loong Face design language. Its dimensions are 5050/1960/1505 mm with a wheelbase of 2,970 mm. Its interior adopts a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster, a head-up display, and a stalk-mounted gear shifter.
The electric variant of the BYD Han L comes standard with a 1,000V system. Its RWD version produces 500 kW (671 hp) with a zero-to-hundred acceleration time of 5.5 seconds. The CLTC range reaches 701 km. The AWD version of the Han L EV boasts a combined power output of 1,086 hp. It speeds up to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. Its CLTC range is 601 km, thanks to an 83.21 kWh battery.
The PHEV variant of the BYD Han L has a 1.5-liter engine under the hood for 115 kW. Depending on the drive type, an engine works in pairs with a single e-motor for 200 kW (268 hp) or two electric motors for 400 kW (536 hp). The top-trim BYD Han L DM AWD speeds up to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The price range of the BYD Han L sedan lies between 209,800 and 279,800 yuan (30,350 – 40,475 USD) in China. According to China EV DataTracker, BYD delivered 26,357 units of the Han L in China.
