UK-bound LEVC L380 minivan from Geely to get PHEV variant

Geely Galaxy LEVC L380 minivan was seen in China with PHEV powertrain

The UK-bound LEVC L380 minivan from Geely Group will get the PHEV powertrain variant to boost sales. Its electric variant is available for purchase in Geely Galaxy stores across China with a starting price of 299,900 yuan (41,770 USD). In 2026, the LEVC L380 will enter the United Kingdom market.

LEVC (London EV Company) is a Geely-owned London cab maker that derives from The London Taxi Corporation Limited. This company launched its new energy model line in 2017 in response to new taxi regulations in London. The TX commercial vehicle became the launch car of the NEV series.

LEVC L380’s bumpy road in China

Last year, LEVC started production of the second new energy model called the L380 minivan. It initially kicked off sales in China in July 2024 with a starting price of 379,000 yuan (52,390 USD). This battery electric model was available in independent LEVC stores across China. However, this car suffered from slow sales with 1,685 units delivered from September 2024 to February 2025, according to China EV DataTracker.

In March 2025, Geely launched the LEVC L380 for the second time in China. This re-launch marked the transition of this model into the Geely Galaxy sales network. The car was renamed to Geely Galaxy LEVC L380. What is more, its starting price slid to just 299,900 yuan (41,770 USD). However, this strategy shift didn’t help to enhance the sales volume of the LEVC L380. As a result, it sold 440 units from March to July under the Geely Galaxy umbrella.

It seems that Geely doesn’t give up on the LEVC project, as this model was recently seen in China with an EREV powertrain variant. It seems like Geely wants to give the L380 one more chance to challenge the rapidly developing domestic PHEV market. Moreover, the LEVC L380 minivan was set to launch in the UK in 2026. It seems that Geely might introduce this vehicle to the UK buyers with two powertrain options.

The new variant of the LEVC L380 was seen in China on August 21. Its front end was covered with heavy camouflage. However, the overall body proportions and distinguishing wheel hubs helped us to recognize this vehicle. The LEVC L380 got a large grille made of gray plastic in the front. Headlights are integrated in the front bumper, while taillights sit under the bonnet.

The L380 got an air intake with a mm-wave radar in the middle. Another highlight of this car is a LiDAR sensor on the roof. The current L380 with an electric powertrain has no such sensor. It hints that the new version of this MPV will adopt at least the G-Pilot H5 driver’s assistance system from Geely. It is capable of the point-to-point map-free Navigate On a Map (NOA) function on urban roads.

The specific styling of the spotted LEVC L380 indicated it is a plug-in hybrid car. Geely currently has a self-developed EM Hybrid 2.0 parallel hybrid system that supports various ICE and electric motor combinations. As one of the possible options, the L380 will be able to adopt the PHEV powertrain of the upcoming Geely Galaxy M9 SUV. It comprises a 1.5-liter ICE and two e-motors with a combined peak power output of 520 kW (697 hp).

The shift to the PHEV powertrain would help Geely to cut the LEVC L380’s costs by using a smaller battery pack. This move will influence the starting price of the large minivan in China, possibly resulting in a sales rise.
