In the last week of June, the China EV market sent mixed signals, with sales up for most automakers. Nio was up 17%, Xpeng was up 32%, Tesla was up 50%, while BYD was down 6% compared with the week before.
The weekly sales were published by Li Auto. However, Li Auto ceased publishing them in March 2025 after the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) “recommended” that Li Auto, media and any third parties end it. CAAM says weekly data “undermines the industry order” and “fuels vicious competition.” Since then, Li Auto has published only its own weekly EV registration.
The weekly data are used by consultants, analysts, or investors to see the sales trend and forecast monthly deliveries. They show how many cars were registered for road traffic, which can be later compared with automakers’ self-reported monthly sales, which, unlike registrations, include cars for showrooms, test cars, and other uses.
Most of China’s media have followed CAAM’s recommendation to stop publishing weekly figures. CarNewsChina continues to publish weekly insurance registrations, based on China EV DataTracker data.
The numbers are rounded and present new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, the Chinese term for BEVs, PHEVs, and EREVs (range extenders). To be completely precise, it also includes hydrogen vehicles (FCEVs), but their sales are almost non-existent in China.
Week 26 of 2025 (W26) was between June 23 and 29.
BYD registered 78,570 vehicles, down 5.8% from 83,400 units the week before, and up 3.65% from 75,800 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June (June 2-29), BYD registered 287,120 vehicles in China.
Tesla registered 20,680 vehicles, up 49.9% from 13,800 units the week before, and up 46.67% from 14,100 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Tesla registered 58,620 vehicles in China.
Aito registered 11,730 vehicles, up 7.6% from 10,900 units the week before, but down 6.16% from 12,500 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Aito registered 41,420 vehicles in China.
Xpeng registered 11,200 vehicles, up 31.8% from 8,500 units the week before, and up 261.29% from 3,100 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Xpeng registered 30,280 vehicles in China.
Leapmotor registered 10,620 vehicles, up 9.5% from 9,700 units the week before, and up 121.25% from 4,800 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Leapmotor registered 37,910 vehicles in China.
Xiaomi registered 9,090 vehicles, up 96.8% from 4,620 units the week before, and up 184.06% from 3,200 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Xiaomi registered 23,640 vehicles in China.
Li Auto registered 7,960 vehicles, down 10.6% from 8,900 units the week before, and down 38.77% from 13,000 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Li Auto registered 33,000 vehicles in China.
Deepal registered 5,470 vehicles, down 2.3% from 5,600 units the week before, and up 11.63% from 4,900 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Deepal registered 19,910 vehicles in China.
Fang Cheng Bao registered 4,400 vehicles, up 5.3% from 4,180 units the week before. In the first four weeks of June, Fang Cheng Bao registered 17,170 vehicles in China.
Nio registered 3,790 vehicles, up 16.6% from 3,250 units the week before, but down 44.26% from 6,800 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Nio registered 12,770 vehicles in China.
Zeekr registered 3,300 vehicles, up 5.1% from 3,140 units the week before, but down 23.26% from 4,300 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Zeekr registered 12,830 vehicles in China.
Denza registered 3,010 vehicles, up 1.7% from 2,960 units the week before, and up 3.79% from 2,900 units in the same week last year. In the first four weeks of June, Denza registered 11,070 vehicles in China.
Avatr registered 2,440 vehicles, down 6.2% from 2,600 units the week before. In the first four weeks of June, Avatr registered 9,180 vehicles in China.
Onvo registered 1,670 vehicles, up 15.2% from 1,450 units the week before. In the first four weeks of June, Onvo registered 5,520 vehicles in China.
