Today, a Chinese company, Dreame Technology, has officially declared its entry into the ultra-luxury electric vehicle market with plans to challenge the legendary Bugatti.

The company, best known for producing high-performance vacuum cleaners and robots, revealed on August 28 that its first electric hypercar will directly target the Bugatti Veyron, with a planned unveiling in 2027.

Dreame Technology has built its reputation on high-speed digital motor technology, achieving a world-first certification from Sullivan for its 200,000 RPM digital motor this year. This technology, currently deployed in the company’s flagship Z50 Station vacuum cleaner, will now power Dreame’s dream to make “the world’s fastest car.”

“The luxury automotive sector has been missing a truly intelligent electric hypercar brand,” said in Dreame’s declaration. “While traditional ultra-luxury brands like Bugatti and Bentley have been slow to embrace electrification and intelligence, Dreame will redefine what constitutes ultra-luxury in the next automotive era.”

According to Chinese media Iyiou, the company has already assembled a team of nearly 1,000 specialists for this project, drawing talent from both the smart hardware sector and traditional automotive manufacturing. Dreame plans to continue expanding this team while making long-term investments in automotive technology.

According to Dreame, Dreame’s hypercar will feature an AI companion system that learns and adapts to the driver’s habits, preferences, and even emotional states. The voice interaction system will reportedly transcend traditional mechanical responses, recreating familiar voice characteristics with emotional nuances that approach human conversation. The vehicle will also integrate with users’ smart home ecosystems and mobile devices.

Dreame was once a member of the Xiaomi ecosystem, manufacturing products such as vacuum cleaners and robot cleaners for them, although it no longer does so. Perhaps Xiaomi’s considerable success in car manufacturing has inspired Dreame.

However, Dreame is not the first vacuum cleaner manufacturer to harbour automotive ambitions, the renowned vacuum cleaner manufacturer, Dyson, also once had such a dream, even producing the Dyson electric vehicle, but ultimately abandoned the project.

It is always commendable to have dreams, particularly when a company’s name is ‘Dreame’. Perhaps it truly can, with its high-speed digital motor technology (despite currently only being employed in vacuum cleaners), challenge the speed of a Bugatti.
