BYD’s updated Denza D9 EV has surfaced, revealing key upgrades including a more powerful 340 kW (456 hp) electric motor and larger battery pack, and will be available in FWD and AWD.

The FWD is equipped with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (model TZ205QYF) with a maximum power of 340 kW. This is an increase of 110 kW (148 hp) from the current 230 kW (308 hp).

The AWD adds an additional rear-mounted motor (model TZ180XSAN) with a maximum power of 70 kW (94 hp). This is an increase of 25 kW (34 hp) from the current 45 kW (60 hp). The combined system power is 410 kW (550 hp).

The battery specifications and range info still need to be revealed officially.

In the front, the updated Denza D9 continues to adopt the series’ π-Motion diamond-cut design language.

Dimensionally, the updated model remains unchanged, measuring 5250 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, and 1900 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3110 mm. Its gross weight is 3595 kg and the curb weight has increased from 2915 kg to 3015 kg, indicating a larger battery pack. For reference, the current AWD model has a 103 kWh Blade battery pack, offering 600 CLTC cruising range.

Seond and third row seatings

Inside, the second-row seats are not foldable but can slide forwards and backwards, while the third-row seats are foldable and can also slide forwards and backwards. The luggage compartment has a longitudinal length of 625 mm.

In addition, optional features such as various rim styles and front fascia grille designs are available. A panoramic sunroof is standard. The official also confirmed the new model will be equipped with the latest generation of BYD’s “God’s Eye” 5.0 advanced driving assistance system.

The pricing info of the updated Denza D9 EV has not yet been announced. For reference, the 2025 Denza D9 EV models are priced between 319,800 and 469,800 yuan (46,100 to 67,700 USD).
