Toyota has officially launched the right-hand-drive (RHD) version of its bZ3X electric SUV in Hong Kong, with pricing starting at 229,600 HKD (approximately 29,500 USD). This makes the bZ3X Toyota’s most affordable model in Hong Kong, undercutting the previous cheapest model, the Sienta Luxury, which was offered at 239,460 HKD (approximately 30,800 USD) drive away.
The bZ3X is developed jointly by GAC-Toyota, GAC Group, and Toyota Motor Corporation and is produced at the GAC Toyota Nansha plant in Guangzhou. The SUV has been on sale there since March 2025 and has accumulated over 46,000 units sold, topping joint-venture new energy vehicle charts multiple times.
Hong Kong’s pure-electric vehicle market has grown rapidly, with EV new-car penetration approaching 70%. Toyota has historically lacked a competitively priced EV in the city. According to GAC Toyota Executive Vice President Wen Dali, the bZ3X “fills the gap in Toyota’s Hong Kong lineup and responds to local demand.”
The Hong Kong RHD version has been updated for city use, with features suited to narrow streets, tight parking, and high-frequency urban trips. Early reactions from previews have been positive, with the model praised for its balance of space, technology, and safety.
According to our earlier report, bZ3X RHS is powered by a 150 kW permanent-magnet synchronous motor paired with a 70.0 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a 565 km NEDC range (roughly 500–520 km CLTC). It measures 4,600 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,660 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm.
The vehicle supports 6.6 kW AC and 90 kW DC fast charging, while Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality allows it to supply external power.
Inside, the cabin includes an 8.88-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen integrating navigation, audio, and system controls. Features include wireless Apple CarPlay, English voice control, an 11-speaker Yamaha audio system, and power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation. Rear seats recline between 117° and 137°, and the SUV offers ample cargo space for its class.
Toyota has also included localised benefits such as three years free charging, lifetime battery warranty, and Hong Kong–Shenzhen cross-border roadside assistance, reflecting the company’s adaptation to Hong Kong users’ needs.
The bZ3X represents a China-developed, Toyota-standard EV entering a right-hand-drive market for the first time. It demonstrates Toyota’s approach of localised development combined with global quality standards. Beyond Hong Kong, the RHD bZ3X may eventually expand to other markets such as Japan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Australia, providing a pathway for Chinese-developed EV technology to enter international markets.
