The Saic Z7 BEV sedan-coupe and the Z7T shooting brake from Huawei and SAIC started presales in China. They boast up to 905 km of CLTC range, an 896-line LiDAR sensor, and a peak power output of 434 (582 hp). They will sell domestically via Huawei’s HIMA network.

Saic is a joint brand between the state-owned Chinese automaker SAIC and Huawei. Its domestic name is Shangjie. The brand’s officials write its English name with upper-case letters. However, we don’t follow this rule to avoid confusion between one of the biggest Chinese automakers and a fresh automotive brand that currently sells a single model, which is the Saic H5 crossover. The Z7 sedan was teased in February, with the Z7 shooting brake revealed in early March.

More about Saic Z7 & Z7T

The Saic Z7 and the Z7T are sister models that have common design language, powertrain, and equipment. Their exterior styling was clearly inspired by the Porsche Taycan and the Taycan Cross Turismo. The two cars boast similar dimensions of 5036/1975/1465 mm with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. They ride on staggered R20 wheels with 245/45 tires in the front and 275/40 in the rear.

Both vehicles have a sloped bonnet, semi-hidden door handles, an active air intake, and a single taillight strip. However, the Z7T shooting brake provides a larger trunk space due to a gently sloping roofline. Their equipment includes soft-closing doors, a knock-knock-opening front trunk, and active suspension.

Interior of the Saic Z7 & the Saic Z7T

Inside, both vehicles adopt a large floating screen, a thin LCD instrument cluster, and a head-up display. The Z7 & the Z7T have a streaming rearview mirror, a zero-gravity passenger seat, and a gear-mounted gear shifter. The center tunnel adopts two wireless phone charging pads. The Saic Z7 sedan’s trunk offers 1,582 liters of space with rear seats folded. The Z7T has a slightly greater volume of 1,694 liters.

Both cars have five interior color options: yellow, red, purple, black, and beige. Another highlight of the Z7 and the Z7T is the Huawei ADS 4.1 assisted driving system with an 896-line LiDAR sensor. It allows a car to recognize small obstacles with a height of 14 cm at a distance of 122 meters at night.

Powertrain & prices

The Saic Z7 & the Z7T share powertrain variants. The entry-level version has a single e-motor in the rear axle for 264 kW (354 hp). The dual-motor 4WD variant boasts a combined peak power output of 434 (582 hp). There are two ternary NMC battery options available with a capacity of 81 kWh and 100 kWh. Both cars can run up to 905 km on a single charge under CLTC conditions. The Saiz Z7 sedan speeds up to 100 km/h in 3.44 seconds.

The Saic Z7 sedan became available for presale with a starting price of 228,800 yuan (33,225 USD). The Z7T shooting brake is a bit more expensive at 239,800 yuan (34,820 USD). People who placed the preorder would enjoy purchase benefits of up to 11,000 yuan (1,600 USD).

We will remind you that the Saic H5 crossover entered the domestic market in September 2025. According to China EV DataTracker, its cumulative delivery volume reached 33,222 units. It isn’t a significant number for an affordable five-seat SUV with a price range of 159,800 – 199,800 yuan (23,205 – 29,010 USD).
