The Firefly EV hatchback from Nio entered four more European markets as it aims to solidify its export volume. The first batches of these battery electric cars were handed over to owners in Denmark and Greece. Customers in Austria and Greece can pre-order this vehicle.
Firefly is an entry-level brand under Nio, aimed at younger buyers. Its first car was launched in China in April 2025 with a price range between 119,800 and 125,800 yuan (16,960 – 17,810 USD). According to China EV DataTracker, Nio delivered 26,009 units from April to October 2025 in China. Previously, the Firefly EV was introduced in Norway, the Netherlands, and Belgium.
Firefly expands to more European markets
With its main focus in European countries, Firefly is expanding into additional markets in this region. On December 10, the company announced on social media that it had started deliveries of the new Firefly EV in Denmark and Greece. The Firefly EV hatchback costs 209,900 – 229,900 Danish Kroner (32,680 – 35,800 USD) in Denmark. In Greece, the price lies between 31,900 and 33,900 EUR (37,100 – 39,420), depending on the trim level.
At the same time, the Firefly EV became available for pre-orders in Austria and Portugal for 30,900 – 32,490 EUR (35,930 – 37,780 USD). Customers who placed a pre-order will be able to purchase the entry-level Firefly EV for 29,900 EUR (34,770 USD) in the mentioned countries. For clarity, the Firefly EV costs 279,900 – 299,900 NOK (27,500 – 29,470 USD) in Norway. Its price tag in the Netherlands lies between 29,900 and 32,500 EUR (34,770 – 37,790 USD).
It isn’t a surprise that Norway has the lowest price for this BEV, as it is not a part of the European Union. As a result, there is no additional 21% import duty on Nio cars. However, it is still ~40% more expensive than in China. According to Elbilstatistikk, Firefly delivered 28 units in Norway so far in 2025.
The entry-level Firefly EV comes standard with a 13.2-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, and heated front seats & a steering wheel. The top-trim level has a power tailgate, a sunroof, and power front seats with ventilation and massage functions. Next year, the right-hand drive Firefly EV will enter the UK, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.
