A new purple version of the refreshed Xpeng P7 electric sedan has surfaced on Chinese social media, confirming its liftback design, which replaces the traditional sedan trunk of the current generation. This offers an early glimpse of the production model ahead of its official launch in August 2025.
Visually, the new P7 adopts a more dynamic and streamlined exterior compared to its predecessor.
Regulatory filings show the updated model measures 5,017 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,427 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,008 mm. The body style remains a unibody fastback configuration.
Xpeng has confirmed that the new P7 will be available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants. The RWD model is equipped with a single 270 kW motor, while the AWD version features a dual-motor setup comprising a 167 kW front motor and a 270 kW rear motor, resulting in a total system output of 437 kW.
Battery options will include 74.9 kWh and 92.2 kWh packs. Based on China’s CLTC test cycle, estimated driving ranges are 702 km for the base RWD model, 820 km for the long-range RWD version, and 750 km for the AWD variant.
All variants will support Xpeng’s 800V silicon carbide (SiC) high-voltage platform and 5C fast charging technology. This charging architecture is designed to reduce charging time significantly. For comparison, the Xpeng G7 SUV, which also uses 5C charging, can recover up to 436 km of range in 10 minutes under optimal conditions.
The battery suppliers listed in the filings are EVE Energy and CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery); however, exact specifications may vary by trim level.
Xpeng stated that the new P7 has been in development for five years, with contributions from both its China and international design teams. The model aims to deliver a balance of originality, aesthetics, and driving performance in the mid-to-premium electric sedan segment.
Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng previously described the project as one of the company’s most emotionally invested, calling the redesign a response to what he sees as repetitive EV design trends in the market.
Once launched, the new P7 will enter a highly competitive field in China, competing with rivals such as the Nio ET5, Tesla Model 3, and Xiaomi SU7. Pricing and final trim-level configurations are expected to be announced during the August release event.
