The electric Ford Bronco SUV from the JMC-Ford joint venture rolled off the production line on December 12 as the plant’s 200,000th vehicle. This model will enter the Chinese market with a starting price of 229,800 yuan (32,560 USD).
The electric Ford Bronco is an SUV developed for the Chinese market to compete in the rapidly developing market segment of large NEV crossovers with off-road capabilities. It became available for preorders with BEV and EREV powertrain variants on November 18. The new Bronco’s price range lies between 229,800 – 282,800 yuan (32,560 – 40,070 USD).
Electric Ford Bronco rolled off the production line in China
The electric Ford Bronco began mass production on December 12 at JMC-Ford’s manufacturing facility in Fushan, Nanchang County. This plant boasts 98% automation due to 600 industrial robots. The peak annual production volume reaches 300,000 units. It assembles Ford, Lincoln, and JMC cars.
This year, Ford and JMC invested 300 million yuan (42.5 million USD) to upgrade their production lines for the assembly of the electric Ford Bronco. Its production start marks an important milestone for the company. The new Ford-branded SUV will challenge such cars as the Aito M8, the Li Auto L9, the Denza N9, and other Chinese models.

The electric Ford Bronco could be easily distinguished by a boxy body shape and a large “Bronco” inscription in the front end. The car has large bumpers and plastic trim around wheel arches. A swing-out tailgate with a spare wheel adds sturdiness to this SUV. However, it has pop-out door handles that are smoothing the Bronco’s look.
The new SUV boasts hefty dimensions of 5025/1960/1825 mm with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The minimum ground clearance is 220 mm. The Ford Bronco’s cabin adopts a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, and a 70-inch AR-HUD. The car offers a 7.5-liter fridge, 21 speakers, 10 airbags, and a panoramic sunroof. It has five seats inside.
The Ford Bronco BEV has two electric motors with a combined power output of 332 kW (445 hp). They are powered by a 105.4 kWh LFP battery pack for 650 km of CLTC range. The EREV variant has a 1.5-liter ICE for 110 kW (148 hp) under the hood. It sends power to a 43.7 kWh BYD Blade battery pack for 220 km of CLTC range. Two e-motors generate 310 kW (416 hp). The mixed range reaches 1,220 km.
