New road-test images in China show the Chery Fulwin A9 undergoing development ahead of its planned market launch in the second quarter of 2026. The model serves as the production version of the earlier Fulwin E05 concept and enters the mid-to-large sedan segment with range-extended and fully electric powertrains.
Its appearance follows Chery Group’s reported November new energy vehicle sales of 116,794 units, a year-on-year increase of 50.1 per cent. The Fulwin A9 features a new exterior design that differs from that of other Fulwin sedans. The front fascia features a closed panel with a downward profile, paired with L-shaped headlamps positioned along the upper edges.
Additional elements include triangular air guides with chrome accents and a darkened trapezoidal lower intake. A separate black exterior package is planned, and the test vehicle displays roof-mounted LiDAR, indicating expected compatibility with the Falcon 700 Plus assisted-driving system.
Dimensions for the Fulwin A9 are listed as 4930 millimetres in length, 1908 millimetres in width and 1480 millimetres in height, with a wheelbase of 2928 millimetres. These measurements position the model below the Fulwin A9L, which measures 5018 millimetres in length, 1965 millimetres in width, 1500 millimetres in height, and has a wheelbase of 3000 millimetres.
The A9 features a fastback roofline, a rear spoiler mounted on a suspension, and a darkened lower diffuser. Semi-hidden door handles, frameless side mirrors, 19-inch petal-style wheels, dual-tone low-drag wheels and a full-width rear light bar appear on the prototype.
The cabin layout aligns with the current Fulwin interior direction. A floating central display is paired with an embedded rectangular instrument panel. The test vehicle includes a two-spoke steering wheel, an electronic column-mounted shifter, a raised lower console, and a 50-watt wireless charging pad.
A row of chrome-finished physical buttons remains, and the cabin uses suede-like materials and ambient lighting. Features listed for the production model include fully reclining front seats, a refrigerator, a fragrance system, a panoramic roof with a sunshade, an intercom function, AI-based karaoke and a light-sensing electric tailgate.
Powertrain information referenced from earlier Fulwin E05 disclosures indicates that the range-extended version of the Fulwin A9 is expected to offer 18 kWh and 29.9 kWh battery options, with CLTC electric-only ranges of 135 kilometres and 210 kilometres, respectively. The combined driving range is expected to exceed 1400 kilometres.
The fully electric version is described as using a 58 kWh battery targeting more than 500 kilometres of range, with a longer-range variant above 650 kilometres anticipated. Additional specifications are expected closer to launch, and pricing is likely to position the A9 below the Fulwin A9L, which starts at 149,900 yuan (approximately 21,000 USD).
