The AUDI E5 Sportback electric shooting brake from the German automaker and SAIC earned five stars in the C-NCAP crash and safety evaluation test, scoring 91.3%. It became one of the safest vehicles evaluated by the 2024 standard.
The C-NCAP crash-tested the AUDI E5 Sportback Quattro Pioneer. It is the cheapest AWD variant of this vehicle available for sale in China. Its suggested retail price is 269,900 yuan (39,050 USD). It comes with frontal, side, and curtain airbags as standard. The car also offers eleven cameras, twelve ultrasonic sensors, three mm-wave radars, and a LiDAR. They send information to the Nvidia Drive Orin-X chip for 254 TOPS.
The AUDI E5 Sportback received a five-star C-NCAP safety rating with a total score of 91.3%. It is 3.5% higher than average. This EV scored highest in the Active Safety segment, earning 94.86%, 7.81% above the average. It completed most of the car-to-car automatic emergency braking (AEB) tests.
The Occupant Protection segment got 92.05%, just 0.03% above average. The E5 Sportback scored 82.6 points out of 88 in the real vehicle collision tests. It is a good indicator. The Vulnerable Road Users Protection was evaluated at 86.92%, which is 7.56% higher than average. The AUDI E5 Sportback handled the AEB tests perfectly, avoiding colliding with pedestrians and cyclists.

The AUDI E5 Sportback is a mid-size model with dimensions of 4881/1960/1579 mm. The wheelbase is 2,950 mm. It was developed specifically for the Chinese market. The car adopts the new design language with pronounced fenders, hidden door handles, and distinguishing daytime running lights. It is available with cameras instead of side-view mirrors.
The E5 Sportback is available with RWD and 4WD options. Its peak power lies between 220 and 579 kW (295 – 776 hp), depending on the trim level. Three battery variants are available: 76, 83, and 100 kWh. The CLTC range of the E5 Sportback is 618 – 773 km.
The AUDI E5 Sportback began deliveries in China in August 2025 with a price range of 235,900 – 319,900 yuan (34,130 – 46,280 USD). According to China EV DataTracker, AUDI’s cumulative deliveries reached 7,373 units, with just 303 cars handed over to clients in February. This drop is caused by a number of factors, including the gradual phasing-out of NEV subsidies. AUDI aims to enhance its sales performance with the introduction of discounts and the upcoming launch of the E7X crossover.
