BYD is adding a BEV variant to Fang Cheng Bao (FCB)’s best-selling SUV model, the Tai 7 PHEV. The new car will be available in RWD and AWD with a maximum power of 300 kW (402 hp) and 515 kW (691 hp), respectively.
The Tai 7 PHEV was first launched in September 2025. Currently, it has four trims on the market, available in FWD and AWD, priced from 179,800 to 219,800 yuan (25,900 to 31,700 USD).
In January, over 17,000 units of the Tai 7 were sold, while FCB sold 21,581 vehicles across its entire lineup.
The BEV design continues the boxy off-road styling of the PHEV variant, featuring a two-tone bumper, a front roof lidar, traditional door handles, externally mounted spare tire at the rear, and a tailgate that opens sideways.
The entire lineup is expected to be equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye” B advanced driver assistance system, supporting highway and urban NOA assistance as well as parking assist.
The dimensions also remain unchanged: 4999/1995/1865 mm (l/w/h), with a wheelbase of 2920 mm. Its approach angle is 24° and the departure angle is 25°.
A panoramic sunroof is standard, while features such as a towing hook, wheel eyebrows designs, red taillight cover, and door handle colors are optional.
The BEV will be available in RWD and AWD with a top speed of 240 km/h. The RWD boasts a maximum power output of 300 kW (402 hp). The AWD has a total power output of 515 kW (691 hp). The battery will come from BYD’s Blade battery pack. However, the detailed capacity and range info have not been revealed at this time.
For comparison, the PHEV FWD is powered by a 200 kW (268 hp) electric motor and a 115 kW (154 hp) 1.5T engine. The AWD is equipped with a 160 kW (215 hp) front and a 200 kW rear electric motor.
