XPeng Motors Chairman He Xiaopeng announced today that the new XPeng P7 has completed its 24-hour endurance test, achieving a distance of 3,961 km. This new benchmark surpasses the previous record held by the Xiaomi YU7 by 17 km.

He Xiaopeng highlighted the significance of this achievement, noting that the 24-hour endurance challenge has seen several impressive performances over the years. In 2019, the Porsche Taycan covered 3,425 km, followed by the Mercedes-Benz CLA with 3,717 km in 2024, and the Xiaomi YU7 with 3,944 km in 2025.

The 24-hour endurance test for the new XPeng P7 involved continuous high-speed driving and rapid charging, with the vehicle running non-stop while drivers rotated. This test is designed to push electric vehicles to their limits in terms of sustained performance and charging efficiency.

The new Xpeng P7 achieved a distance of 3,961 km in its 24-hour endurance test.

Earlier this year, the Xiaomi YU7 Max also undertook a similar 24-hour endurance challenge, achieving 3,944 km. During its test, the YU7 Max maintained an average speed of over 210 km/h (excluding charging time) and underwent 30 charging sessions, each lasting 10-12 minutes. The Xiaomi YU7 Max’s test was certified by the China Automotive Technology and Research Centre (CATARC).

The decision to undertake this challenging test for the new XPeng P7 was influenced by a discussion between He Xiaopeng and Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. On August 10, He Xiaopeng revealed that Lei Jun had suggested such a demanding 24-hour endurance test for high-performance pure electric vehicles, acknowledging its difficulty and intensity.

Lei Jun previously outlined the four major difficulties of this test:

  • Sustaining ultra-high speeds of over 210 km/h.
  • Achieving long single-charge range.
  • Ensuring fast charging capabilities.
  • Maintaining excellent heat dissipation to withstand dozens of rapid charge-discharge cycles over 24 hours.

The new XPeng P7 made its China debut on August 6 and opened for pre-orders, with its official launch expected later this month. The vehicle comes standard with an 800V high-voltage architecture platform and a 5C ultra-fast charging AI battery. It boasts a 10-minute charging time for 525 km of range, a maximum range of up to 820 km, energy consumption of 12 kWh per 100 km, 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 3 seconds, and a top speed of 230 km/h.
